The Objective
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is the global operations encompassing motion picture production and distribution, as well as television, digital content, and much more. The brand came to TikTok to generate mass awareness for the release of one of their latest adventure films, Uncharted, while ensuring brand safety through-out the campaign.
The Solution
Sony Pictures Entertainment, in partnership with Omnicom Spain, ran a suite of In-Feed Ads that teased the Uncharted film. Using official trailers to showcase the action and thrill of the movie, the videos were eye-catching and engaging, intriguing the TikTok community and encouraging them to watch the film in cinemas.
To verify brand safety, Sony Pictures used TikTok’s Inventory Filter Solution — a proprietary solution which allows advertisers to gain more control over where their ads run. This enabled Sony Pictures to ensure that their In-Feed Ad ran adjacent to verified brand safe content. The TikTok Inventory Filter encompasses both our TikTok Community Guidelines and the Brand Safety Floor & Suitability Framework, providing advertisers with additional controls over where an ad is placed.
Sony Pictures also utilised Zefr to measure the success of their campaign. To provide independent verification of the TikTok Inventory Filter, TikTok partners with Zefr to measure the safety rating of each campaign. All of this created flexible brand safety controls for Sony Pictures, and ensured that their brand was aligned with suitable and relevant content.
The Results
The Sony Picture Entertainment campaign was a huge success in hitting all of its objectives, achieving over 35 million impressions and 118,000 clicks, but most importantly, delivering a 99% verified safe delivery rate.
